How to Write a Phlebotomy Cover Letter with Example
Phlebotomy is projected to have a job growth of 25% from 2014 to 2024. This means, it is going to continue to be a highly in-demand job, resulting in equally high competition in the recruitment landscape. This is why an applicant like you should work hard to present yourself in the best light through your cover letter and resume.
But what happens if you're fresh out of college or training, with no related experience whatsoever? Compared with experienced phlebotomist, your chances of getting hired could be slim. Or so you think. It's all about writing an impressive and compelling cover letter.
What every cover letter must have
A highly effective cover letter must contain important elements that catch attention and compel recruiters and employers to continue reading the rest of the letter, and to give the accompanying resume a thorough.
- Address your cover letter to a real person, unless there aren’t any names specified
- Start with an attention-grabbing first sentence
- Used words that show your passion and enthusiasm for the job
- Give emphasis on what you can do for the company, the value that you can add
- Keep your cover letter short, simple and straight to the point
- Request one action from a future employer. For example, “I really would like an opportunity for a personal interview at your most convenient time”
- End with the same enthusiasm as the rest of your letter
How to write a Phlebotomy cover letter
Now that you know the important elements of a cover letter, it's time to put them into words that really matter. And the best way to do this is to read, review and understand the job ad. Recruiters want to know if you took the time to read the entire job description. If you fail to provide some of the details that they're looking for, such as expected salary and professional certifications, you obviously weren’t very thorough.
It is also important to note that job descriptions usually contain keywords that recruiters use to determine if you are a good match, in terms of minimum qualifications, minimum work experience, training and certification required, and some specifics of the job, such as the number of times you performed venipuncture or the use of capillary sticks in blood draw.
The body of your cover letter should also convince the hiring manager or recruiter that you are a well-rounded candidate, complete with the experience and training needed to succeed in phlebotomy.
Before sending out your cover letter make sure to review and edit any typographical errors or spelling mistakes. Most importantly, your cover letter should have lots of white spaces, so it is easy to read.
